Trace An Email weather its real or fake


Generally, the path taken by an email while traveling from sender to receiver can be explained by following diagram.
 
So here is the method of tracing the exact location from the email sent.I am showing the email tracing on yahoo here but gmail and other mail providing services have same concept.

Step 1:-First open up your email account and click on your inbox.
 

Step 2:-Now Select any email that you want to trace 
 

Step 3:-After Opening scrool the mail at the end and in right corner you will see a option FULL HEADER click on it
 

Step 4:- Now Closely Look at the the header you will find the whole detail that from which IP address it is sent.
 

Have a close eye on these contents

1. Received From: - 127.0.0.1(EHLO mail-qy-f200.google.com) (209.85.221.200)
The IP address at last is the real IP address of the person who is sending this mail.

2. To see the proper location of this IP address Go to www.whatismyip.com or www.whois.domaintools.com .These websites help you to find the whole detail and satellite images of the ISP location from the Email was sent.



Vickys' Suggestion:- "After finding the IP address of the sender I recommend to use www.whois.domaintools.com to get satellite image of the location from the mail is received."

A CLOSER LOOK AT A VULNERABILITY IN GMAIL


Gmail is one of the major webmail service provider across the globe. But as we all know Gmail still carries that 4 letter word BETA. Sometimes we may wonder, why Gmail is still in the testing stage even after years of it’s emergence. Here is one small reason for that. 
Gmail follows a strict rule that doesn’t allow it’s users to have their first or the last name contain the term Gmail orGoogle. That is, while signing up for a new Gmail account the users cannot choose a first or last name that contains the term Gmail or Google. You can see this from the below snapshot.

This rule is implemented by Gmail for obvious reasons, because if the users are allowed to keep their first or the last name that contains the term Gmail or Google, then it is possible to easily impersonate the identity of Gmail (or Gmail Team) and engage themselves in phising or social engineering attacks on the innocent users. This can be done by simply choosing the first and last name with the following combinations.
First Name        Last Name
Gmail                       Team
Google                     Team
Gmail                       Password Assistance 
From the above snapshot we can see that, Gmail has made a good move in stopping the users from abusing it’s services. However this move isn’t just enough to prevent the malicious users from impersonating the Gmail’s identity. Because Gmail has a small vulnerability that can be exploited so that the users can still have their name contain the terms Gmail or Google. You may wonder how to do this. But it’s very simple
1. Login to your Gmail account and click on Settings.
2. Select Accounts tab
3. Click on edit info
4. In the Name field, select the second radio button and enter the name of your choice. Click on Save Changes and you’re done!
 
Now, Gmail accepts any name even if it contains the term Google or Gmail. You can see from the below snapshot
Allowing the users to have their names contain the terms Gmail or Google is a serious vulnerability even though it doesn’t seem to be a major one. This is because a hacker or a malicious attacker can easily exploit this flaw and send phishing emails to other Gmail users asking for sensitive information such as their passwords. Most of the users don’t even hesitate to send their passwords since they believe that they are sending it to Gmail Team (or someone authorized). But in reality they are sending it to an attacker who uses these information to seek personal benefits.
So the bottomline is, if you get any emails that appears to have come from the Gmail Team or similar, don’t trust them! Anyone can send such emails to fool you and take away your personal details. Hope that Gmail will fix this vulnerability as soon as possible to avoid any disasters.

HOW TO ACTIVATE AUTOREPLY TO INCOMING MAILS



Hi friends,

Many of you could be aware about this feature of Gmail. Mine this article is for those who dont know how to activate Autoreply feature for an incoming mail.

This Feature of Gmail is called Vacation Responder. 
This feature can be used as for informatic purpose, like you are on vacation or due to any reason you can't access the mails.....then you can inform others who send you msg... that you r on vacation and will respond you after......bla bla date....
Or 
This feature can be used as Confirmation to the sender...that u have received Mail....

Procedure To activate Autoreply:
1. Open your Gmail account..... and go to settings
2. Here in General Tab, You will find Vacation Responder..
3. Select Vacation responder On  and Write Subject and msg.....
4.Click on Save Changes

Now If yo get any mail then the sender will get automatically reply from u.....

These days when anyone try to create new account on gmail, it says you to enter your mobile no. and then it verify your no. by sending a code on ur mobile.
This thing creates difficulties for those who does not have any mobile or want to create more then one account on gmail.

Well, today i am gonna tell you all a trick by that you can create new account on gmail without giving your personal no. to gmail :)

Follow these steps :
1. First of all go to http://k7.net/. and sign up there.
This is a site where you can receive fax or voice calls without having a phone no. When you create an account on this site, it will provide you an unique phone no. of US.
2. Now go for creating account on gmail, enter all the information as you want, but in Location fill 'United States'.
3. Now click on 'I accept, create an account'.

4. Now it will take you to mobile verification page. Here select the option of Voice call and fill the no. that you got from k7.net.
5. Now you will get a mail having verification code as voice mail on that account from which you have registered on K7.net. Open it, download the attachment file and listen the code.

6. Now enter the code of your voice mail in verification code. and click OK. 

7. Yuppiiee, your account is ready now :)
